Christine Hockman Co-Director

Christine Hockman is a Co-Director for Great Lakes Biomimicry and has been with the organization since 2015, first as its Director of Resources, Marketing and Communication. Part of a team of three Co-Directors, she focuses on strategy, new business development, delivering biomimicry professional education and Innovation Services, and leading marketing and communications efforts.

Before Great Lakes Biomimicry, she spent eight years at Summit Metro Parks, first in the marketing department and later over the Interpretive Services Division, which educated the public through interpretive and recreational programming, visitor centers and exhibits. She led complex, large-scale exhibit development and assisted with the planning of multi-million dollar site/building projects. Christine fashioned a positive, dynamic culture, forged new collaborations with internal teams and community organizations, and doubled the number of public programs in just a few years.

Before moving into the public sector, Christine held marketing and sales roles within private industry, driving business growth and creating raving fans through grassroots marketing efforts and minimal budgets. She has a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Business Administration and Marketing from Baldwin Wallace University and received the Akron Area League of Women Voters Champion for the Environment award in 2014.

Christine is passionate about using biomimicry to change the world and getting people excited – about nature, the power of food and embarking on a never-ending journey of creative personal growth. She enjoys an active life in Northeast Ohio with her son, husband, all-terrain dogs and noisy chickens.
