Christine Hockman Collaborator

Christine has worked with Great Lakes Biomimicry (GLB) since 2014, first as a volunteer, then as the Director of Resources, Marketing and Communications, and finally as one of three Co-Directors, leading the organization and teaching biomimicry (nature-inspired innovation) to Fortune 500 companies, small- and mid-size businesses, government agencies, and educators. Christine’s roles in the non-profit have included marketing and communications, workshop facilitator, delivering a custom innovation process to clients, and strategy development. Currently, she is a collaborator and partner of GLB to help with strategy, workshops and Innovation Services projects. Christine sees biomimicry as a tool for cultivating a curious mindset and designing a healthier, more interconnected world.

Before GLB, Christine worked in both the private and public sectors. At Summit Metro Parks, in Marketing, Interpretive Services and Senior Operations roles, she connected people to nature through programs, events, visitor centers, and exhibits. She led large-scale exhibit development and helped plan multi-million dollar building projects to create amazing indoor and outdoor experiences for visitors of all abilities. Christine built a dynamic culture and team, leading them through tremendous growth and outreach expansion into Summit County over five years.

Christine is also the founder of One Degree Shifts, where she delivers Certified High Performance Coaching™  to helps people learn the world’s best, science-backed methodologies to elevate their clarity, energy, courage, productivity, and influence and connection to others, which amplifies success, confidence and joy in all areas of their lives. 

Christine received the Akron Area League of Women Voters Champion for the Environment award in 2014, sits on the Akron Public Schools STEM College and Careers Academy Advisory Board and volunteers for Citizens for Metro Parks. She has a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Business Administration and Marketing from Baldwin Wallace University, completed Supervisor’s Management School from North Carolina State University, has a Certificate of Supervision from Kent State University.
